Recommended modding help?

So I'm a junior in high school and I'm not taking any electrical engineering classes of any kind.
I'm EXTREAMLY interested in modding, but i know very little.
I'm making a GCp now but I'm really worried about when i get to the actual wiring parts.
I look at the guides on this website and i get really intimidated by all of the vocabulary used by people that I've never heard of.

So my question, does anyone know of any Basics Videos/Books? (Like the basics of the basics)

I really want to mod but I'm terribly intimidated and I have no idea were to start.
Ill take any help i can get. I need simple, broken-down lessons. (ex The parts of a circuit board)

Any recommendations? Were did you guys learn all of your modding knowledge?
