PSX achieved!

I finally got one- a Japanese PSX. I am so happy to finally own one.
I know for a fact that there isn't going to be any easy hacks for this. Free McBoot (not surprisingly) doesn't work.
So, would anyone here know if there is an easy way to unlock the region? Plus it would be nice if someone modded the XMB to support english. I can't read Japanese, so I'm having a friend help me out.

It's big enough, but I'm not modding it. I prefer to keep items of this rarity OEM

I'm not modding. At least not hardware modding. I'd like to see someone come up with a new XMB that supports english, and region unlocks it. Would be great.

All I need now is that DVD remote. He didn't have one
But I can't complain, same guy is giving me an awesome deal on two (or three) other extremely rare items.
