Yes I know this is not the Gamecube section. But since these are used more for N64 Portables I posted here
On Ebay you can get brand new clone Gamecube Controllers. They look exactly the same as the Official Gamecube controllers except for no Nintendo markings.
So I bought one for comparison pics and details.
First off it feels and looks almost identical to the Official Gamecube controller.
The A and B buttons are slightly darker but the same exact size.
The thumbstick and c-stick seem to be made of the same material as the Official controller and are the same color.
The d-pad seems to be identical also.
All parts are interchangeable with the Official controller including the thumbstick and c-stick caps.
The z-button is a clicky tact switch where it is "almost" a mushy tact switch on the Official controller.
The left/right trigger felt a bit stiffer but most likely it's because of having new springs where my Official controller is heavily used.
Now I was thinking it would be different inside but it really is VERY similar. Here's the pics :
The good news is that it is a perfect controller to get d-pads , c-sticks, and analog sticks for N64 portables.
Also the board is easier to work with since no scraping is involved.
Also no tri-wing screwdriver needed.
The GREAT news is that you can get them for less than $7.68 shipped for one on Ebay. Buy in bulk and they are cheaper.
Well there you go. Use this info or don't, no big whoop
**** Also notice the spots on the board for a Turbo and Slow function on each side of the start button. But there are no buttons for it on the outside of the controller. I wonder if they work. Hmmmmmm
