N64p Noob alert!

I have been a gamer since I could remember. I am new to electronics. I was an electrician for many years and remodel homes for a side gig. So, I understand circuits, grounding, etc. I have been a fan of the site for a few weeks. I just became a member yesterday. I am starting my N64p. I have purchased a dremel, gamebits, 4 N64's, a few generic controllers, and I have all other tools necesarry. I lack a screen, and I am trying to decide if I want a sony ps1 screen. I am hurting when it comes to cases. I am really unsure what to use. I have watched Bacteria's step-by-step guide many times. I will be needing all the help I can get. I appreciate any help with screens, cases, or what other roadblock comes up. Thanks guys.

Those batterys are not very trustworthy. The're not as much compacity as they say they are.

Also, not very many people think bac's guide is very good. They say it is not very good for today's standards.

Anyway, Good Luck!

bacs guides are a good baseline but now read the megastickies and some people worklogs for more info.

Bac's guides are pretty useful, actually, but some are outdated and missing some information. Of course a lot of us simply don't like Bac (I won't go into it). Fortunately, you do not need to stoop to reading Bac's guide anymore, not for N64 anyway.

There's two types of Nintendo screws. One is a tri-wing, and looks like a Philips but with only three "wings". Tri-wings are irrelevant to this guide, because Nintendo didn't use them on the N64 or any of it's related devices (that I know of).
I think Game Boy Color system used tri-wings (mine has 'em), but I don't know if that is really related to the n64, as I forget if the transfer pack accepts GBC games.

I suggest reading many worklogs and guides. Get as many sceond opinions as you can, and ask questions before you do anything you feel is risky.

Thanks for all the input. I have read most everyone's work logs. The only problem is I really won't get more than an idea of what I am doing until I get in there and start.

I see that Bacteria has used batteries with 2000mAh and Hailrazer has posted batteries with 4700mAh, would the difference cause problems?

no but the 4700 mah ones are four cells and the 2000 mah ones are two cells ... 4700 are better because the have longer battery life.

So, how about the batteries in the link I posted, would they work? Batteries are my last thing to order before real work commences.

Those batteries are crap. You will get almost no battery life from them. Look for LiPo or at least big camcorder packs.

Just got my ps1 screen from ebay (it came with working ps1) for $40 shipped. Heck yeah. All I need is power regulator, batteries, charger and PCB. I will start on a cart slot relocation and vacuum forming table this weekend. Pictures to follow. Thanks for all the help everyone!
