N64 strange repair

I have opened a n64, I found this, I have no idea what is, someone could help me?

I suppose that just made something very crazy to get a similar crystal, but I don't under stand the connection between the transistor and the U5 PIN 9.(When I broke that connection the image got very strange colors)

Have someone ever seen something like that? And may I trim that boar even with those repairs?

You can trim it, it won't affect anything is my guess. Just as long as you keep the connection. MOST trims require the transistor for the 7.4V

But what does that connection do?

Where do you live? I think I remember seeing this as a sort of region video mod in the past to make the composite signal work well in the area. Basically that's just forcing the RGB encoder to do something different. Though I'm not sure what it's doing differently.

But as long as that connection holds I don't see why it can't be trimmed. I'll look that mod up 'cause it's bothering me I can't remember.

Yeah definitely looks like some kind of select connection for the video circuit

I live in Brazil, but the console is American and should play fine without any mod.
