My first portable! ZN64?

Creative title, right? Hurhurhur.

So, I've been planning my first portable for a while, and have most parts. I just ordered this screen today, as I couldn't find an affordable PSOne screen.
All that's left to get is a case (I'm thinking a zn40 unless I can get my 3d model cheaper), batteries (I'm getting two of these and this for the charger), and an audio amp/speakers. I'm looking for a good premade amp, but if I can't I might just end up doing something with an LM386.
Does anyone know of any cheap amps with built in volume control?

Cool. So would I be able to run one of those off of 3.3 or 7.4v? And should I use the original speakers? Thanks for the help by the way.

Well, I just bought a battery pack + charger from Nuke, it should be perfect! I'll post an update (hopefully with pictures) once I get the screen and battery in :D

With the amp I posted, you should use 3.3 volts and different speakers, I've seen people use ds speakers.

I'll put pics up soon for sure. Not too much progress though as I've been swamped with schoolwork. But I do have the screen and amp and batteries and such.

Does anyone know of a way to have an internal switchable cartridge? I'm probably going to incorporate a 64drive into this, but would like to be able to switch to a normal cartridge for the sake of nostalgia. I was thinking about having an SPDT switch to switch which cartridge gets the power-- internal 64drive or external cart. But would I have to worry about anything else interference / cart-frying-wise?

Well, you definitely don't want to switch that while the system is on...
Maybe use a DPDT switch and rig it like this:

64Drive / Off / Cart

I'll consider that, thanks! I'm just concerned whether or not the cart that's not in use would be damaged at all by the output of the other cart.. Anyway, can anyone link me to a good DPDT switch (preferably slide and available at radioshack) that I could use for the charge & play/power? I had someone pick me up some, but they were 125v 0.3A. That wouldn't be enough, would it? The next size up is 125v 3A but I was told it's quite large
EDIT: Found this but I'd still much prefer a slide switch like in shockslayer's portable wiring diagram
DOUBLE EDIT: My regulator is finally ready, expect an update as soon as I get a switch haha

I'm doing a Zn-40 gamecube :) , not sure if you got the case yet but just ask their customer support for a free sample and they'll give it to you for free

Thanks! I did that with all my TI parts. But I actually ordered one and just got it today.
