MGB backlight help.

I recently found myself balls deep in a project that has already cost me a bit. I'm trying to backlight my MGB with an ASMretro backlight. The thing is I've broken two screens already because of these Dang fragile ribbons. I've searched all over the forums and Google and couldn't find anything much besides "BE VERY CAREFUL". The second time I was sure I was being careful but it still broke. Would anyone care to share an easier method of removing both layers of film behind the screen? I've looked an Bibin's guide but would his alcohol soaked paper towel method work on both layers of the screen? Thanks for any help in advance.

The alcohol is to remove the adhesive holding the film on. Really the only way to get one off without breaking the ribbon cable is to be absolutely as careful as possible. If you think you're being careful enough, you aren't :p

But seriously, just go slow and pull up a little at a time. Taking two hours to get it off is way better than shelling out the cash for another MGB.

Do what I do.
Take a new razorblade, wedge it in the corner so you can ift a corner. Pull it so it folds over itself.
Use alcohol to remove excess residue with a q-tip. Works like a charm everytime, all the time

Thanks for the reply! I'm going to wait a little bit before I try again. Gotta let this frustration go down a bit! Would it be easier to slide the a razor between them at the points where things get a little tricky? I was thinking it might be but then I would have the problem of an extended clean up.

Sorry, somehow I missed your post. I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean though. Could you please elaborate?
