Help! Explosive Regulator!

alright so i wired my screen up to the 7808 and the 7808 to the wire going from power switch to the mother board with the ground pin of the regulator which had a wire going to the positive end of the power adapter. when i turned it on, the screen got power for a second as it did turn on but then THE 7808 REGULATOR EXPLODED. i dont know if my screen still works but i know my gamecube does. wat do?

Wait, you connected the ground pin of the regulator to positive? Yeah, that's probably why it exploded.

yeah i tried again with the ground pin connected to a ground spot on the screen board and it worked
