Gamecube controller conductive pad/membrane

After about 5-6 years of playing on my trusty gcn controller, I think the main conductive membrane for the x, y, a, b buttons is getting worn. I could pretty easily use the membrane from another controller but I was wondering if anyone knows of a supplier for the part or some way to repair it.

The same thing happened to an old original xbox controller so I know the membranes don't last forever. The problem is that the membranes are one of the most easily worn parts besides the sticks and trigger springs. The buttons and shell are pretty indestructible.

As a side note, anyone know the best way to find good used gcn controllers? They are getting pretty rare now and the new imported ones as $50-60.

What about a new third-party one like this? The membrane might swap over, I'm sure someone here has taken one apart and can comment on how similar they are to the first-parties.

Vskid is right, if the controller is one of those 1st party 3rd party controllers almost always the membrane is the same.

I thought about that but every single 3rd party controller I've ever used has been vastly inferior to 1st party. Even a membrane from a used 1st party would be better than the awful knockoff stuff you see in most 3rd party controllers.

That's a good question too, anyone have experience with an actual good 3rd party controller? The online reviews aren't reliable because for most people, as long as the buttons kind of work it's acceptable.

By 1st party 3rd party, do you mean it's a knockoff but made with pretty much the same parts as 1st party? Have you tried those and are they any good?

I saw somewhere I think it may have been on tx's forums, but if you take conductive paint or double sided tape and foil you can bring your membrane back to life.
