GameBoy64 ~ Worklog

Alright finally some progress on the case. I decided not to internalize the neomyth as the sdflash cart was giving problems having soldered connections.

Decided a while back to put everything in a gameboy case but the cartridge and expansion port were always things that were going to stick out. Now i've molded them into the dmg case and it's look sweet.

More progres to come!!

Re: New n64 project need opinion!!

I actually like the cartridge sticking out of the top it adds a nice touch IMO. Also it would look more professional with the mem/rumble port in the bottom. This sounds like a it'll be a nice looking portable. Good luck!

Re: New n64 project need opinion!!

I vote for cylinder cells, li-ion i guess, your second n64 mini (the white one that is) looked much more professional i think

Re: New n64 project need opinion!!

Memory card slot thing stays flush.
Use 3.5" screen.
Cart slot flush, looks better to me.

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

Design has been chosen and will be making this one for myself. Will keep you updated on any new developments ;)

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

What controller are you going to use to achieve the use of using a psp analog for both the standard analog and c-buttons?

Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

Superpad. I will have to make a little circuit for the c buttons to work as a analog stick though. Sifu has done it before though with a normal analog stick so it's been proven to be possible.

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

Why bother with an analog stick for the c buttons when you can use a 4-direction tact instead?

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

Analog will feel and look better. But just of of intrest could you give me a link to 4 direction tact please??

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

Thanks for the link. But I'll think I'll go analog to get the best feel of it. I used a small step up to get the 3.7v to 5v to power the audio chip. I'm actaully looking for a replacent all together.

Does anybody know of a audio amp like the one already in the n64 that runs of 3.3-3.4v??

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

Have you tried analog c-buttons for an N64? Because I can tell you right now, it sucks. There are several games that use the c-buttons as additional buttons, such as Star Fox and Super Smash Bros. Even in games that use it for directional control, it's not that great. Maybe for Goldeneye, I guess, but you're better off with buttons. That's obviously not an option due to space constraints. I remember one guy proposed using a modified d-pad for the c-buttons. Maybe a Gamecube one?

However, if you really like the analog c-buttons, go ahead. Controllers are very much personal preference. I'm sure a lot of people thought the twin sticks on YAP64 were stupid too.

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

You could just cut the audio amp off of the N64 and put less resistance on the pot on your audio amp for your speakers.

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

Sadly not much progress :( I'm a bit busy with new commissions. hehehe too much cases for my workspace to handle...

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

That is awesome. What are the squared off ones?

Also, you should really make the jump to 3.5" screens.

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

Cool cases. Remind me of the cutting board I wanted to vacform at ßeta's.

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

Also, is this the thread you were meaning to post in?

Re: New n64 project! Aiming for the smallest possible!!!

Yeah I'm going to switch to 3'5" after I finish all of my commissions. It's just that everybody that ask me for commissions want 5" so can't do anything about that

I just posted that pic for no reason. Worklogs pics and finished portable will be posted once it's done in the news section.

Squared off one is my new n64mini v3 model.
