Gameboy pocket with a Nes controller

hi,

i want to mod my gameboy pocket so i can play with a nes controller, i know it's possible. but i also keep want to keep my button so i can play with the controller and with the standard buttons. is this possible? if it is where do i have to solder the wires?

It should be quite simple, you'll have to rewire the insides of the NES controller, I think do it with only 11 wires, you'll have to find a plug though.

You can do it with 9 wires...
But yeah, this is not only possible, but pretty easy.
However, he's right, unless you want to make this harder than it needs to be, you probably want to just rewire the NES controller to match.

whoops, I was counting sholder buttons, the NES controller doesn't have those

but the gameboy pocket only 8 buttons so why do you need 9 wires?

each button gets a wire from ground soldered to one side, and the other is a wire from the button pin soldered to it. So one wire is ground, and the other 8 are for the buttons.
