Finding music: The 90's

J.D

No Stranger To Love
I noticed that my music library is lacking 90's music. Any suggestions? Preferably R&B, Shoegaze (Like the album "Loveless"), non-cliche* hip-hop, electronic, and rock.

*Cliche hip-hop being like "ADD DRUM BEAT, CRAPPY LYRICS, STRING ORCHESTRA, ??? PROFIT"

90's Bands and artists I am not interested in:
Metallica
Nirvana
Daft Punk
Barenaked Ladies
Blink 182
Foo Fighters
Gin Blossoms
Goo Goo Dolls
Weezer
Beastie Boys
Punk artists and bands

Foo Fighters
Gin Blossoms
Goo Goo Dolls
Weezer
Beastie Boys
I could keep going, but those are a few of my favorites

Dangit, you only liked the queer music from the '90s. The only good stuff, you completely eliminated. Outside of cliche hip-hop music, anyway.

Reel Big Fish. Period, ho.

Oh and the Aquabats. Radiohead. Sleater-Kinney. Stereo Total. The Insyderz.

Most of my 90's music is ska, so I tried to avoid posting a hoard of ska :p

Music from Zelda.

I only listened to Beethoven in the Ninties. Back then I was too young to care about music.

Soulgaze?
It's SHOEgaze. As in, they gaze at their shoe's on stage because of the enormous amounts of effects they use.

Anyways:
American Football
At The Drive-In
Cap'N Jazz
Early Deftones
Del Tha Funkee Homosapien
Drive Like Jehu
Fugazi
The Get Up Kids (Specifically Something To Write Home About)
Guru (The Jazzmatazz Albums)
Marcy Playground
Neutral Milk Hotel
Number Girl (School Girl Distortional Addict)
Pixies
The Promise Ring
The Rentals
Sunny Day Real Estate
Veruca Salt
Weezer (*Can'tSayThisOnTV* you, Pinkerton is amazing.)

I also have a bunch of really really underground Emo from the 90's, but I don't know if you would like it.

You mention Reel Big Fish but not Streetlight? Tsk, tsk.

EDIT: But, tbh, I like them better as Catch 22.

Dunno why I typed "Soulgaze" instead of "shoegaze," oops.

Anyways:
American Football - I really enjoy this band. Added to my to-get list.
At The Drive-In - I really don't like this band. At all.
Cap'N Jazz - Sorta-don't really like.
Early Deftones - Don't really like.
Del Tha Funkee Homosapien - Lol, this is great. Added to my to-get list.
Drive Like Jehu - The singer is worse then Justin Beiber
Fugazi - Undecided about this band. I'll give it a second listen later.
The Get Up Kids (Specifically Something To Write Home About) - Don't like at all. I did find a band named "I am Robot and Proud" with a song named "Something to Write Home About" and I love it. Listened to some of "I am Robot and Proud"s other songs and I love them as well.
Guru (The Jazzmatazz Albums) - This is *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ing awesome. Added to my to-get list.
Marcy Playground - Pretty good. Added to my to-get list.
Neutral Milk Hotel - Meh.
Number Girl (School Girl Distortional Addict) - Interesting. I will give them another listen later.
Pixies Pretty good. Adding to my to-get list.
The Promise Ring/The Rentals/ Sunny Day Real Estate/Veruca Salt - Will listen to them later.
Weezer (*Can'tSayThisOnTV* you, Pinkerton is amazing.)

Drive Like Jehu is pretty hard to get into due to the singer's frenzied vocals. But I love them.
Cap'n Jazz is the same way.
Fugazi is hard to get into all together.
The Get Up Kids are awesome, but probably a bit too pop-punk for most people.

Thats awesome, I'm a huge ska fan, and I'm seeing RBF and Aquabats in concert (co-heading) Nov. 21

You're cheating yourself if you won't even consider Weezer. The Blue Album and Pinkerton are incredible works that are well-worth your time. You need to at least listen to those two. (Maladroit is also fantastic, but that was released in 2002.)

Don't be stupid.

Do not like.

I actually gave the album a listen last week. There's about 3 songs in the album I like but the rest are pretty bleh.

2deep4u.

Seriously, if you can't at least see the emotional and poetic value in Rivers' songs, you need to read the lyrics better. Everyone can relate to a song off of Pinkerton. Not only that, the instrumentation throughout Pinkerton is absolutely amazing. That album is an absolute masterpiece.

Blue is also an amazing album, but a completely different beast.

I can entirely relate to the songs Rivers' writes and performs.
They're incredible works, with powerful meaning.

I just don't like listening to them.
