DS lite without the top screen

The top screen on my sister's DS lite broke and i found out how to make it run without any of the top contacts.

Thanks to ShockSlayer for finding out that The DS needs a draw from the backlight to run without the top screen.
I will get higher resolution pics when I have time.

Is there really a point? I don't use DSs so I don't know if there are games that use only one screen...

For the most part, you could say there isn't a point, but if this guy did make a discovery it's still one worth documenting.

SS did it first, then Mario iirc. A resistor is better to use so you don't have an extra light shining all over the place

If the top screen breaks the ds wont work, so this way you can make it work again.

Sounds like my friend should know about this. He seems to have some sort of special magnet in his possession- he's got 6 DSs and he payed for one of them

They're bound to break eventually.
