DS Lite Manual Brightness Control?

Here's the deal. I took apart an old broken DS Lite without a top screen, and I applied a mod which lets the DS run without the top screen. (usually without a top screen, the DS turns on and back off quickly) I plan on just using the bottom half of the DS to play GBA games. I was adjusting some of the DS menu settings, and when I selected the brightness icon in the corner, the DS shut off. Now when I turn it back on, the screen quickly flashes and I can't access the DS menu.

Now to the point... the DS works fine with a GBA game, but the brightness is stuck at the lowest level. Is there a way I can manually turn up the brightness somehow without accessing the DS menu?

If you have a flashcard, I think you can just set the brightness to adjust via a shortcut of your choosing.

I do have a flashcard, but unfortunately my DS is not working with any DS software of any kind. The only thing that works is a GBA game set to autoboot.

No joke the same exact thing happened to me. If you find a fix for it let me know!!

Sorry, still no info on how to fix it yet. I could use some help, someone! My project is nearly complete except for the brightness issue.
