Detachable screen

I think that this will work, but wanted to know what you guys thought. I was thinking about using a molex connector from a power supply and HDD/CD Drives to allow me to switch out the screen between portables, using the four wires and contact for audio (left and right when applicable), video and ground, because it has just enough contacts. This would both save money and possibly time.

Yeah it's definitely do-able, but I don't see the point. Screens are relatively cheap.

Also, with those molex connectors, it takes a little bit of force to connect and remove those 4-pin connectors, so I'd hate to see you accidentally destroy your screen... If you absolutely HAD to do this, I'd recommend using USB rather than molex.

Yeah I was looking around and it was looking like a better idea.

Without sound, a 4-pin connector like a molex would work. With sound, you'd need at least five pins. I guess USB would work if you used the shroud for ground.

I already made a pic for this over a year ago when screens cost more, but I lost it. :(

Make a screen case. On the back, embed a small metal magnet on each corner. On the portable, have 4 magnets that match up. Solder wires to the back side of the magnets. It would be a fastening system, and also a video transfer system.

I also think so.
