classic controller to gamecube port

is it possible to wire a classic controller to a gamecube port on the wii and have a switch allowing it to keep its wiimote functionality by just having a switch between gamecube and wii outputs? anyone got a wiring guide? help would be greatly appreciated.

And you can't plug in a gamecube controller to a wiimote.

You can, it probably would involve cutting off the voltage and data lines. Get the pinouts for them.

what about using a classic controller and wiring that to the gc input on the wii

has anyone attempted this before? cause what i basically want to do is have a classic controller wired to a wiimote and the gamecube input, with a switch. from what ive gathered the classic controller has 5v, data line, ground. then it has a four that i dont understand which are: clock, latch/strobe and TWO that "arent used in standard controllers". so a guide or at least information on whether its simply hooking up wires or will it need resistors and such?

so is this right:
classic gamecube
clock ->3.43v logic line
data -> data line
5v -> 5v line
latch -> cable sheilding
ground -> all three ground cube wires

I doubt the protocols are compatible, unless the clock and latch lines are not actually used by the Classic Controller. In that case, I'm not sure if you would ground them out, pull them high or leave them floating.

I'm actually interested in this problem too. I don't even know where to begin but this seems complicated. On other cross console adapters I've seen, it looks like you need to insert some kind of custom programmable controller to translate commands from one console format to the other.

Can someone give me an idea of how hard this would actually be? How do those cheap controller adapters even work and is it possible to build your own, better one?
