Classic controller on the GC?

i saw Ashen used a classic Wii controller on his GC fusion. How did he do this?

i'm confused about the wii classic controllers. will work on a GC or not?
i've google'd so many times and several people said it wont work, so others several people said it'll. also, i've found many pictures that the conector is identic of the GC but found several pictures that the conector is diferent (square ones. i think is a wii conector, i never seen a wii before so i don't know correctly)
i'm planning on make a gcp and wanna know about it.

ACTUAL classic controllers plug into the Wii controller itself. The ones you see with GC cables are Chinese clones. That being said, it doesn't matter for a GC portable. You can just use the buttons and caps like Bentomo said.

You can use the buttons, caps, and joysticks from either the official nintendo ones that plug into the wiimote, or the third party ones that plug into the gamecube. But you can only use the third party gc one's board in a portable. It doesn't have rumble, but it can be cut down ridiculously small.

OFFICIAL WII CLASSIC CONTROLLERS WILL WORK ON THE GC. LET THIS END THE DISPUTE.
Just buy the adapter. They're out there. Cheap and plug'n'play.

There are adapters for near every controller. The best way would still be to just reuse the buttons and such.

THe official GC controller could be cut pretty tiny too:

It has rumble,and its way easier to wire up.

Yup, I fit an official GC controller with rumble relocated into the Fusion Micro rev. 2. If I can do that, you can fit it into your portable for sure. That is, as long as you've not managed to fit the GC into a Tic-Tac box, or something.
