Can I do a NES portable with bad electronic skills?

Hello,

Maybe it's a noob question, but I don't want to buy a screen and batteries, and find out I'm not capable of building a portable NES.
I checked a few tutorials and this should be really hard for me, I really suck at connecting electronics things...

I'm wondering if there's people like me who were not good at all like me at the beggining and managed to build a portable NES with not so much difficulties? Do you think it's possible for me?

Thanks

Try reading through Mario's excellent Instructable. Don't buy anything, don't do anything, just read through it. If you can understand most of it, and you think you can do what it says to do, you can probably make a portable. NES portables are pretty straightforward, and a good first portable. If you have NO experience, and you're just confused after reading the instructables, get some tools and start smaller. Change the power LED to a different color. Disable the lockout chip. Do a stereo sound mod. There are lots of ways to get more comfortable with electronics.

What can be easier than a NES portable?
You mean normal electronics things not portables?

I don't like this very much, I find this boring. ^^" Maybe if I have a motivation it would be better.
I have the feeling it's going to be long. I think the best thing to do is find a video showing how to build a NES portable step-by-step and do exactly the same thing.

EDIT: I read, and I don't understand a lot, when it come to hooking. :p It would be hard to do the case! I don't know if I have the right material to do it; Power LED it's the power light, right? (-__-") And what is that lockout chip? Is it the door that close the cartridge slot? Sorry, when I said I suck, I suck. And this would be hard to do, because I lost my AC adaptor of my NES, so I can't test. XD

I doubt very much you're going to find a step-by-step video. Making a portable is involved and time-consuming, and if you're finding it boring already, you're pretty much *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ed. If you can't even be bothered to find your AC adapter or get a new one for your NES, you're pretty much *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ed.

If you're really this bored and clueless, why not just buy an NES portable? It's nowhere near as satisfying as learning and building it yourself, but I'm getting the impression you're not all that interested in it.

I know I can find a new AC adaptor for my NES for cheap at my Retro store 10$, don't know if it's still there. I just don't know if it worth the money, because I don't play to my NES anymore, when I still had the AC.

I knew about this FC Mobile system, NES just don't interest me that much. 50$ for a system I'll never play with it... I would like to make a NES portable at first, to acquire competences to make a N64p later on. Even if I would be really interested in this one, this is sure too hard for me, certaintly.

If you can't build an NESp because it's too hard, there is no way on earth you'll be making an N64p. Fact.

This is a lot harder and different? Just open it need a special screw, or use of a pen.
A lot of users said the N64p was their very first portable, but in my case, I need to forget that idea right now. ^^

Thanks for your advice

Every single person who has made an N64 for a first portable did NOT look at an NES and say "That's too hard." They did not say "I don't like this very much, I find this boring." They say things like "I know it's not easy, and I know it's a lot of work, but I know I can do this." It's a lot more than opening up the console. You need to connect a screen, controls, batteries, and put it all in something. The N64 requires a lot more than the NES to accomplish this.

Yep, that's why I said I should forget it. I read tutorials to see if this was possible for me, and it doesn't right now.
I also have the fault of starting something, and never finish it.

Honestly, when I read the tutorial, I said to myself "Can I do this?", and then I rejected that idea later on.
It's too bad; electronics is just not my domain. :neutral2:

a NOAC?

NES portables are great for a first portable they are the easiest to make and the best for beginners, check out marios intractable look up on google how to build a portable game system... but if you find this boring you might not want to use 4 months of your free time sooo :dahroll:
