Broken NES?

I bought a new nes a while ago, and its awesome! my games are clean, but yet, it does not seem to make contact. If i wiggle it around for a few minutes, it might catch a signal.
I had it open a week ago, with the intention of removing the region chip, but it failed
Anyone know whats going on with it?

If you don't want to spend the $5 on a new one, you can also pry the pins up on the existing connector, which will usually work just as well, although it might not last quite as long before you have to fix it again.

Huh, my local place for buying this stuff has one for 18$, not sure i'll invest that much into just a pin connector. See the problem is i'm not from the states :/

It would cost about $2 for me to ship one outside of the US. I could probably send you one for $7 or $8 (cost of part + shipping). You also could try fixing yours first.

If you do a google search for NES 72 pin connector or something like that, you should find one. I remember seeing one a few years ago, but don't have the link anymore. Basically, you just need a better (tighter) connection.

no need to remove the region chip, just disconnect pin 4 from the chip... ive had several of the repro. 72 pin connectors before.. only 1 of the group worked corectly.. but, ive reconditioned several of the original 72 pin conectors, repositioning the pins, and thoroughly cleaning them, and they all worked perfect.. i dont feel the new 72 pin conectors available today are a good quality piece like the original ones are.
