So in my lazy and crazy procrastination I've picked up a cecha01 and a ceche01 ps3, both with ylod, I've been interested in not reflowing them, but completely reballing them. So I decided to practice on an extra wii motherboard.
Since I don't have a board preheater I had to do with my stove top and closely watching the thermometer.
After using the heatgun on top I seem to have gotten a clean lift.
The only issue is I was using an infrared thermometer so it wasn't very accurate. I need to pick up a thermometer with a nice thermo couple.
There are some bubbles on the board probably because of overheating. The board probably would be dead now if it wasn't already, which is the unfortunate part that I can't test if I did it right. But I got a clean lift with just a stove and a heatgun, next I'm going to assemble a jig to hold the gun and probably switch to an electric griddle.
