analog stick replacement

i tried replacing my retrobit analog stick with a ps2 analog stick, and all the directions work, but they only move a tiny amount (i.e. mario only tiptoes and can't run)

i tried replacing my superpad (the black one with two handles) analog stick with a ps2 analog stick, and everything worked except when i hold left, after i let go it is still moving just a little bit (i.e. mario runs left, and then when i let go he tiptoes to the left)

is there any way i can fix either of these problems, or is there a better way to replace any n64 analog stick with either a ps2 or xbox analog stick?

I have no idea what's up with the first one.

I can tell you about the second one, though. The SuperPad Plus has very little deadzone and is very sensitive. Most sticks do not center as strongly as the one it comes with. You're just going to have to live with this problem, or find a tighter stiff.
