He who mods in thy basement.
In my QUAD 64, I used a fuse on the psone screen as a voltage source instead of the 7805. It provides a steady 2.96-2.98 volts, and, without resistors, can be connected to 4 3mm white LED's wired in parallel.
Just connect all the positive leads together and to the voltage point, then connect all the negative leads to GND. It's that easy. It took me 2 minuites to wire.
(it says "connect LEDs to left side of this fuse" if you can't read it.)
I tested this with 3 different brand/ brightness LEDs and they all performed well.
