You can do something similar with microcontrollers such as arduino, but I think that there was a product designed specifically to do this (for a power switch, a single-use tac switch to control a lot more) that was posted on these forums a while ago... I'll look into it and see if I can't find...

The only thing (sorry for the necro) I can think of would be the inductor, because once the charge load drops to 0 because the battery is done, it's just eating up power. Inductors can whine audibly, I have a DIY USB charger that does it all the time.

Thing is, Marshall's is WAY better. Bunch of built-in support, plus it comes far closer to 'ready to go' than the other one. Somebody on benheck posted a list of why it's better, I think it was in the 'n64' forum in 'cart emulation' thread.

Just bumping this - trying to get better accuracy, has anybody tried this recently? If you have a portable and would be willing to test this, I'd appreciate it - just tell me how much the calculator says you should get battery-life wise, and how much you actually get. Thanks! Any other...
