Wii U Laptop (First in the World) Completed Work Log

Great job! I love seeing projects that use laptop screens. They are fairly cheap, available, and good quality. Could you by any chance provide a link for the vga adapter? I did a quick ebay search and couldn't find much. I have a number of projects that could benefit from it. Thx.

sjm4306's first portable: The Super Retro Uno Portable

Thanks. I've been looking for a 3.5" lcd off ebay that works. I purchased one and low and IGNORE the video is unstable and rolls but works perfectly with my other game systems. I've had problems with these screens before. I partially reverse engineered an older lcd screen (the driver is simply...

sjm4306's first portable: The Super Retro Uno Portable

I found a "broken" retro duo at a used game store for $4 so I couldn't say no. I took it home and immediately tested it to find that the SNES side was still fully operational but the NES side was kaput. Ok this worked for me because I ordered a free sample of a small enclosure from OKW awhile...

    sjm4306's NOAC project

Hi everybody. I've been watching the forum for a long time now but never really posted my own projects here so I thought I would start with something easy. I am in the process of making either a tiny NOAC console or portable (havn't decided yet) and am modifying the super joy 3 and making my...

Is it bad to run a gameboy pocket off 5V?

The original gameboy in addition to the pocket both utilize 5V cmos core logic. In order to use 3V, the pocket has a switchmode step up regulator to step this voltage up to the required 5V. I point this out in my teardown video so you would really need to open your gameboy and patch into the 5V...

I need help with my clock

When in doubt the first step to fixing anything is to open it up and see if it is anything obvious. Since it sounds like the lcd is displaying garbage that is a good place to check. Be careful about getting dust or finger prints on the lcd. It will either be mounted via a rubber conductive...

    PTH08080WAH problems

Im pretty sure that the dc-dc converter's specs say that it will only tolerate a maximum of 5.5v or so which is why it is frying. It's always a good idea to look at data sheets for any part you want to use (especially heed the absolute maximum operating conditions section). Look around texas...

    GCPC

I want to build a similar project. Where did you buy your nano itx motherboard from. I've got some time on my hands this summer and it would be awesome to build a tiny pc into a ps2 slim if I could fit it. If not maybe a pico itx would work. Just throwing around some ideas before I commit some...

    Digital Potentiometer and an LM386

Free sample a Maxim Dallas Semi ds1869 10k digital potentiometer. Use the datasheet to wire it up. Has up and down push buttons and even has non-volatile eeprom that stores volume level. Although the pot is linear, it hasn't bothered me much given the resolution (number of taps).
