I've finally gotten the itch to make portables once again. This forum has really grown up in the past couple of years, and compared to the BenHeck forums now it's a happenin' place! I thought I'd post a bazillion links and sample pictures of all my past finished projects to bring myself up to speed on these forums and consolidate my work into one place, if that is okay with all of you.
CNC SNESp's: In my quest to streamline making SNES portables, I decided to take the Ben Heck approach and try my hand at making some cases using a laser cutter. They looked pretty, but weren't ergonomic. Got it running off of just 4 AA's, a long-time goal of mine
CNC SNESp Rev 2 (Metal/Wood edition) Okay, so not technically a "finished product" but it looks so good I wanted to include it here.
CNC SNESp Rev 1 (Black/White edition)
boNES (A barebones Portable NES):http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=37802 It had a very snug cartridge jack! Unfortunately the danged screen died on me, but it did have a brief life as a "completed" portable. Used one of those RetroBit NES systems. I need to get another one of those...
The Nintendo SuperBoy (SNESp):http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php ... 1&p=378157 It won a portable building contest, and hailrazer sent me all sorts of cool prizes It was my favorite portable that I ever built, and I foolishly sold it. I wish I hadn't. Used a directional tact switch for the dpad.
PSOneP:http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=22131 Not much to say about this one. I built it out of spite because I bought a similar portable from another forum member and it turned out to be a lousy piece of... stuff. Not at all what it looked like in the pictures. I thought, "Man, I could do better." And so I built this.
The Nintendo Stupendo:http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=17124 The beast that started it all. After failing miserably at trying to make an SNESp following the designs from Ben's book, I took the basic outline for the NES portable and added my own flair to it - and a second controller jack!
There is another whole list of false starts and dead end projects that I've worked on over these past few years, but we won't talk about those
Maybe now I'll finally get around to building a couple of N64 portables that use the LOB64 port
I just want to say that the caliber of portables showcased in these forums has totally blown me away. I hope I can help keep the good thing going that you all have going on here.

Sweet stuff. Saw the RC cars a little while back on Instructables, and I forgot to look at the name! I would have recognized it if I'd bothered to look. Nice job with those!

I was so stoked that I got featured AND made it into the weekly email update for Instructables. I love that site. I won a Leatherman Juice pocket knife (which I use daily!) and t-shirt way back in the day when the site was brand new for posting this project: Cheap 'n Easy Digital Picture Frame. That was back when digital picture frames still cost $200! So I decided to make my own for my then-girlfriend-now-wife as a gift. Unfortunately I'm still stuck with the username I had back in 2006 when I joined.

Technically I joined a while ago to reserve my username, but it's about time I showed my face here Thank you!

Ooh, nice! The most popular thing I ever posted was a step-by-step guide to my NES portable. That won me some sweet Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries and a couple stickers. They also eventually ended up sending me a hoodie, Halloween postcard, and most recently, an inclusion in their "How to do Everything" book. Pretty ridiculous amount of attention, if you ask me. But I've definitely seen that picture frame Instructable before. Very well done.
