Voltage question

If i am using a screen that runs of 12 volts but the playstation runs of 7.2 volts, what sort of batteries do i use, and or how would i get it to work, sorry if this sounds a bit noobish but i just can't figure it out :gonk:

thanks for any help.

Most likely the screen can be powered off of the 7.2 volts from the playstation because that voltage probably goes into a 7805.

You can try that, but your screen might need 12V to run, I had one like that a while back. The PSone (I'm assuming it's the small PSone) uses a 7805 to regulate power. It'll take the 12V but it'll get awfully hot. Your best bet is probably to get a PTH08080 or similar and replace the 7805 with it, as it will not have the same problem. Alternatively, you could step down the power with a 7808 before it goes to the PSone, but that's very inefficient.

You can still use 7.4v batteries if that's all you have, just a use a step up regulator to supply the screen with the 12v if it requires it.
