What rock have you been hiding under? They were big news a few years ago and have been available in products for a couple years. In fact, my phone (Samsung Fascinate) has 1152000 of them (800*480px*RGB).

Perfect viewing angles. Awesome stuff. The only time that I've ever seen one was on a GP2X Wiz handheld. A lot of phones have it now too though, so it's pretty commonplace.

Energy efficient, high viewing angles, high refresh rate- if not to be impounded by degrading, burn in and fragility. These problems have/are being rapidly remedied however. Will eventually be cheaper to produce than your average LCD (in theory). You've probably noticed alot of new smartphones adopting OLED technologies.

I just realized my run of the mill cheap Chinese pmp has an oled screen. But only has blue and orange oled's
