My psone screen won't work

I just tried to power on my ps1 screen without any av in, but it won't show anything, and even pressing the buttons don't show anything, is that normal? I don't really know anything about this screen and i'm affraid it doesn't work... I bought it brand new and sealed and i never modified it, the only thing i did is disconnect the two sockets and reconnecting them back when trying to power it ... What can i do ?

Have you done any modifications, and are you sure the backlight isn't busted?

I have just opened it and disconected the 2 sockets, but of course i connected them back to try and power it...
So then you are saying it should show something?

It should when you press the volume or contrast buttons.

In my experience, some psone screens have a really dim picture unless video is connected.

Some do, some don't.

I am referring to the volume/ contrast bars at the bottom of the display.
