:tophat: Hello everybody,

Im workin on my first portable 64 and was just wondering about heating. Is it possible to keep the metal heat blocks on the mobo if i dont care about the size of my case? or do i need moar stuff to get rid of heat? and btw im new to this obviously so if i sound dumb im srry lol :awesome:

You can keep them, but it's better to replace them entirely. I used some copper ramsinks, they're really good passive cooling.

Can you link to a cheap place to buy them. I need a few. ;)

The ones I'm using came with an iceberq 4 pro, linked here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product.
They come with four of them. The dimensions of those are 20mm x 20mm x 7 mm. I would really suggest getting it, the fan that comes with it is a beast at cooling for it's height.

The only ramsinks I could find that come close in that size are these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product
They're a bit only 2 mm taller, and 14 mm x 14 mm squares.

Thinking of another Gamecube, Hailrazer? ;)

hey hail, i have some of those ones that come with the iceberq 4 that i might be willing to part with. but, it makes more sense to buy an icberq 4 too, since it is a spectacular cooler, great for an xbox or something. :awesome:

Changing what? The size of the n64 motherboard? If that's what you mean, I'd suggest waiting on it. It's easier to just throw it in whole on your first try, and work your way up.

:tophat: nah i ment sizing the heat sinks

You don't need the fan, just the ramsinks from it. If you want to still use the fan, just wire red to the 12v spot on the n64, and black to ground. That's it.
