Yeah, so tried to get this added to the mega-sticky, didn't get a response..... /o-o\
I just want to point out that in the mega-sticky, we default to the BenHeck mega-sticky, and part of that sticky says flat out that you cant use old laptop LCD's.
This is not true.
There is a wonderful and very popular company called Njytouch which produces a product called a controller board that hooks directly to a stand alone laptop LCD and powers the backlight, displays the image, what have you. All you have to do is locate the datasheet for the given LCD panel and send it them, then they program one of their boards to run your panel. These work off of various input types, VGA being common. Also, Njytouch is not the only company that does this, and searching the name of your LCD followed by "controller board" will usually bring you to a company that makes exactly what you need.
Many of you probably already knew this, but I just wanted to throw it out there.
