    duo console question

Shouldn't be too difficult to wire all the controls to each controller board (could maybe even use one of those controller adapters to let you share one controller board) and each system to the screen. The hard part will be fitting both systems into a case that you can actually hold.

Midwest Gaming Classic 2016 Hype Train Choo Choo

Doesn't the original Xbox need 3.3v and what looks like more 5v current than a 360 brick could supply?

Nintendo NX Reveal October 20th 10:00am EDT

Anyone get one yet? Sounds like an alright unit, but with plenty of little issues that add up to me not even really considering it (at least until they release an updated version in a couple years). Lack of raw power is kind of a given, but the framerate drops people are reporting with Zelda...

Will this battery work for a portable, and more importantly how do I install it?

Laptop LCD won't work unless you get a control board for it. Even then, it would probably be too big for a handheld.

Nintendo NX Reveal October 20th 10:00am EDT

Switch comes out in just over a month, what are your thoughts? I think Nintendo will find a way to make it worse than it needs to be. I'm more likely to get a Switch than a PS4 or XB1, but I'm also rocking a nearly 4 year old desktop, 360, and Wii U (Windwaker HD is the only game I have for it).

N64 won't work on any of my TVs

It should work on any TV that takes composite (yellow RCA connector). Do the TVs do anything when the N64 is turned on? Are game and jumper/expansion pak good? Try turning it on without a game, then again with a game. No one cares how many consoles you have. It only sounds like bragging if...

Nintendo NX Reveal October 20th 10:00am EDT

I think it's funny that several arguments used against portablizing are shown as neat things the Switch can do. Playing multiplayer on a tiny screen is now the best thing ever, especially with controllers sure to make your hands cramp.

    Broken display on GBA

Picture of the actual problem would probably be more helpful than a stock picture of a GBA. Easiest thing to try would be taking it apart and unplugging and plugging the display ribbon. Batteries are brand new?

Retro Games Upgrade Unit - Would you want something like this?

What kind of magic is in the Magic Box? I find it hard to believe that hooking composite to the Magic Box will give a much better picture than hooking it directly to the TV, without using magic.

Is Windows 10 worth the free upgrade?

Slowpoke much? The year of 10 being free ended a couple weeks ago. I didn't do it, too many stories about it not working with older hardware. I would probably stick with it if I bought a system that came with it, though.

    Arduino Vivarium Automation

And I thought I was fancy for having my corn noodle's light on a timer. How much will the materials for just the enclosure cost? My snake is a little overdue for a bigger tank and I wouldn't mind building if it'll save a little cash.

    Small/Tiny House Movement

Trust me, if I could have found a place like that, I would have been all over it. ;) I would say there's a pretty good chance of us never building or living in a tiny house in the sense of one that's built on a trailer. To me, that small is just tiny for the sake of being tiny. Ya, there are...

    Small/Tiny House Movement

Little update for anyone that's interested. I got out of the military and we moved last month. We're now renting a ~1200sq ft house with a 1 car garage (1 car=my toys/junk). Bigger than we need, but we wanted a house instead of an apartment and it's about the same price. Truck and trailer...

    Cheapest Console to Portable Mod?

Don't just think about price, you'll want to do something you'll actually play. Don't do a NOAC if you've never been interested in NES games.

Is my HDD Going to Die?

It's like I'm living in the future. I click stuff and it just happens. I got the SSD a few days ago, finally had a chance to install it today and throw Win7 on it. It took maybe 5 minutes to install, I thought there was more and then it asked what the user name should be. Thanks again.

Is my HDD Going to Die?

Ordered a Sandisk SSD Plus 240 and the Hitachi HDD. We'll see how they do. I'm planning on getting an external HDD (maybe another Hitachi with an enclosure) and some cloud storage in the near future to do better backups. Thanks, guys.

Is my HDD Going to Die?

Those reviews don't exactly inspire confidence... Most of the bad ones are DOA, which would be better than after a few months. I hate buying hard drives, there's never one that seems to shine brighter than the rest for reliability.

Is my HDD Going to Die?

Thanks, sam, I think I'll go with the Sandisk. My desktop is 3 years old and was at best on the higher end of mid-range at the time, so it won't notice a slightly slower SSD much. I can't find a Hitachi K7200, though, linky? 2TB will be plenty for now. I'm only using about half of my current...

Is my HDD Going to Die?

I've had a couple random shutdowns over the last few days. I've read that 187, 188 (which is now 9), 198, and 199 are all signs of impending doom, so its days are numbered. Backing up everything now. Anyone have any suggestions for what to replace it with? Needs to be at least 2TB...
