What kind of spraypaint did you use? and does it get clammy and reveal smudges?

For a first portable you could do a NES or and Atari. Mario has made an excellent guide on google. look up "how to make a portable gaming system"

I wanted my portable n64 to be able to be used as a home console also, so i was wondering how i could make a switch to switch between wall power and the battery power.

Check the wire length. I was reading about the 64boy and bentomo had problems with RCP wiring but it turned out to be the length.

How would I do it? Could i just take 2 wires from each connection or is there another way i can do it?
