I've never had a good experience with a headset (not to say there aren't good ones out there, but I never payed more than 60$ for one) I ended up just using my regular headphones and a clip on mic. I'm happy with it until I forget the mic is on my shirt and I try to walk away.

Sorry if I'm off topic, but I think a lot of people here would benefit from a 3d printer. You can buy full kits as low as 400$ (and there are a few crowd funded printers for less than that.)

If you're really worried about shorts in your soldering, I'd recommend redoing the job with a nice chisel tip. It did my solder work wonders.

If you aren't already using a chisel tip on your soldering iron, I really recommend one. I just realized how much easier soldering is with the chisel tip a few days ago.
