A while back I bought a Super Famicom and discovered that it suffered from graphical glitches in certain games. Mostly in the background planes.
I got hold of a test cart and below is the results:
My first thought was that this was a broken trace on one of the two S-RAM chips, so I did a continuity test. No, dice.
Next I ordered two compatible S-RAM chips and replaced the old ones since I thought they were faulty. No dice.
Now, my last gamble is the DMA fail message from the hardware test. I am thinking perhaps a trace related to the DMA function on the CPU is broken. Unfortunately there are too many tiny legs on that CPU, so doing a continuity test on every single one is not feasible.
I am hoping someone here could help narrow down the number of traces that I should test.
