Power Supply

Hey all,

I have 2 bricks (power supplies) that don't give out any juice anymore.
Is there a way to open them? I can't see any screws on the outside and the casing is clearly 2 plastic shells, but can't find anyway to open them and look inside :S

I've never been able to open these without destroying the case. You're probably better off looking for replacements.

Yes they fail usually from the caps however there are other components that I have repaired on those bricks as well like voltage regs, diodes, and ic's.

I find if the brick can be unscrewed great. If its glued grab a dremel or else you will murder the case. In the event that you do kill the original case grab a project box.

Hope this helps ya.

Ugh,

neglected this topic a bit....
I finally got my hands on the screws needed to open the case, the adapters I have are all of the "screwed" (no pun intended) kind, so now I can open them.

The first one I opened doesn't show any direct defects. I will look up the components inside like the cap and the 4 diodes and just replace them all in one go and see if it brings anything.
Although I don't have much free time at the moment to fix these things :/
