Just wondering what the largest HDD size is that anyone has had success with in their original xbox and what IDE-> SATA adapter was used with stable results.

At around 5 GB per game on average, I'd imagine that on the larger hard drives almost the entire library of (good) games could be put on one hard drive... I think there is something like 800 titles in the US, but probably only 100-200 are decent..

I'm pretty sure a 2tb box has been done, and I think I read recently about someone managing a 3 tb. Check xbox-scene's forums for a bit more info. Iirc, if you manage to collect every Xbox game, you're looking at around 1.2tb, so a 1.5tb drive should be plenty for games and a good chunk of music. I wouldn't worry about movies, thee are much better options for video playback these days.

As far as SATA adapters, I had decent luck with the red one from dx. I'll try to get a few links together for ya later.
