Hello, Modretro
I have finally decide to actually build something that will hopefully look good and not made of cardboard and tape.
I decide to start on building a prop portal gun.
But, This one is going to be abit different than an original portal gun because this one is going to be.....(wait for it.) PONY THEMED(probably Pinkie Pie or Derpy or Applejack.)
Anyways, here is a couple of progress videos.
1st one.

SORRY FOR THE BAD CAMERA QUALITY.
I got a new camera just lost the charger, so i had to use my 3ds.

Hey update(no pictures through),
I will be able to get alot more done this weekend, going over to a friends house and he has something that I can use.(mostly some cheap dollar tree light up swords that are broken that I can use to make glowing center thing and then the front of the portal gun and then the back little top part where it glows a bit.)
But, hopefully I'll have some proud pics to show.
I have no paint yet to paint it with but I will get some.
That's it for now.

Sorry for no updates, I have been busy with school.
(and low on fundings.) But I need to wrap this up before summer ends.
So, does anyone know on what I can use to make the outer shells on my portal gun with that won't look crappy and cost under $20?( bought abunch of stuff that I sorta needed ended up forgetting about the portal gun so now I'm stuck with about $5 to spend on it.)
Once I make the outershells and finish installing the orange leds, I'm pretty much done.
Thank you for reading and please post your ideas for the outer shells.(and no I'm not going to use milk cartons or bleach bottles ect for the outershells I need something that looks better than that.)

Paper Mache and Spraypaint. Don't laugh, just do it. Just because you havn't used paper mache since kindergarten doesn't mean it's not a good idea.

Once you've got the funds to *actually* finish it up, go and get a thing of polyurethane resin (the kind for fiberglass) and coat it all with that to make a more durable shell. Overall, this shell would cost you around $15-20 if you can get it all on the first try, and buy your spraypaint at walmart. (They have cans that cost $.97 ea at mine).

Actually, I was thinking about using paper mache and then to form the shell just use like chicken wire and put the paper mache on the chicken wire. And I already have black and white spray paint.(surprisingly after 7 years of never being used they still work fine and the paint looks fine too.)
And then my dad was suggesting some type of putty stuff he has to put on it then sand that to make it smooth and more round.
But, not sure on how well it'll look so If any other ideas please post them, got enough pvc to make another 2 portal guns so just as long as it's cheap I can make probably better ones.

What method did you wind up using to make it?

I found some Cheap Weird Foam Craft Mats and I just glued em together. They were at walmart for $10 and came in a Pack of 10 or 12 I think. They Worked really well! I'd Recommend it to people : o)
Overall, I'm glad to have finally finished a Portal Gun and it works extremely well : o) And It's Extremely Bright. IF I can find a Pic of the Foam I'll post a PIc of the stuff.
