HandyPNP - code name: green mushroom

I'm putting one more guess in and saying it's the "Handy Gen", some sort of portable Sega Genesis. The joystick area might be an 8 way one like in the Neo Geo Pocket, making it perfect for fighting games. And the SNES like button layout might purely to be to save space on the front, moving the C and Z buttons to the triggers.
That actually sounds plausible. Plus, the external controller port does look like it fits a Genesis controller.

Re: code name: green mushroom

Am I really going to be the first one to formally guess that it's a SNES? The hole under the dpad could be a distraction. :p

Re: code name: green mushroom

haha!

you may be the first one here to formally guess it.

i've had tons of guesses on my facebook page. some of my favorite and craziest guesses have been the vectrex and virtual boy.

the guesses so far have included:
atari 2600
nes/famicom
snes/super famicom
virtual boy
n64
gba sp console
sega master system
sega genesis
sega saturn
sega dreamcast
vectrex
neo geo
msx
stv
aes
atari lynx

i think that's all that has been guessed so far.

someone did ask if it was a commercial release or not.

my response: yes. yes it has been. there are lots on ebay and in stores. ;)

Re: code name: green mushroom

Obviously an xbox one
Or a popstation

Re: code name: green mushroom

Now you guys got me wanting to build some sort of GPU to interface the Vectrex to raster.

I guess the 5200.

Re: code name: green mushroom

No doubt about it, it's an Ouya! HANDYOUYA!!

The slot on the back is not for games, but to hold cigars.

A fine device if I do say! Kudos!

Re: code name: green mushroom

Re: code name: green mushroom

someone has finally guessed what green mushroom is!!! from my facebook: "Ryan Taylor Ah ah figures it out Dang finally ok so you are taking plug-n-play systems flashing the games onto carts and then somehow playing those on an atari board. That's about as close as I can get at the moment. But it is not a console per se but an amalgam console. You're turning a tv plugin type into a hand held"

this is, for the most part, correct. i am doing a plug and play portable. i will be encasing each plug and play in famicom carts. the system only houses the controls, screen, ports, and batteries. each cart will hold the individual plug and plays aka consoles. :)

way to finally guess it, ryan! :D

Re: code name: green mushroom

So, now the real big question:
Did you use an ampersand or the letter 'n'?

Re: code name: green mushroom

So it was the Atari Flashback 2 sitting in the background going into this. Just you had some more interesting plans to go along with it.
