If a pot adjustment yields few results, would this suggest that the laser is almost dead?
My DC reads some GD discs, some of the time, and some CDR's all of the time. For example, a certain GD disc will not boot at all, it attempts to load for a few seconds and returns to the DC menu screen. Now if i adjust the pot in small increments it goes from not loading, to trying to load for a good minute or two, all the way to not even spinning. So obviously i am passing the 'sweet spot', but i get the feeling there isn't one. Any opinions?
