The way the switch (the one in the last post on the last page) works is that you have two contact legs that you connect your wires to. When you flip the rocker to one of the sides (over both of the legs), it connects those two contacts and lets the current pass through. If you flip it the other way, the two contacts are not connected, creating an open connection. That means that your signal/current is not going to get through unless you flip it the other way.
